Glavna odlika Talmetra je mogućnost da se uzme mera i da se zatim direktno prenese i označi na površinu na kojoj se radi bez očitavanja dužine, a sve zahvaljujući jakoj kočnici i specijalnim krajevima za obeležavanje.
Izuzetno otporna bela čelična merna traka sa skalom u milimetrima i mat lakom što omogućava lakše očitavanje jer nema odsjaja. Kućište je od jake ABS plastike. Specijalni krajevi metra omogućavaju brzo i jednostavno merenje ili obeležavanje unutrašnjih i spoljnih dimenzija. Merna traka i produžetak su dostupni kao rezervni delovi.
